Bits and collets are interchangeable with Dremel. Although this tool comes in a bag not the case as shown the tool itself is dynamite. This tool was purchased to replace a Dremel which always ran hot until the motor finally burned out. The chuck can be tightened by hand or with a wrench. There are 3 fixed speed settings adequate for most tasks. By comparison the B&D is much quieter and also seems to have more power even at the slowest speed. The only real negative is placement of the spindle/motor lock, just in front of the power switch. In short, a good tool at a good price.

27 and 28. I have not had a chance to really use it yet. I purchased it on the suggestion of my teacher for a jewelry class I will be taking Feb. In fact I have not gotten the accessories that I will need for the class. If I like using this rotarytool I plan to either get the Flex shaft attachment or purchase a Foredom Flex shaft.This however, seams like a good inexpensive way to see if I like using a tool or if I prefer doing everything by hand.

I always figured it was because it had such a small motor, and I was using it too hard. Maybe because it has Low, Medium, and High markers on the speed adjust wheel. I have killed every one of them with simple use. I have always felt they were a decent little tool. Quickly, if you were about to purchase a Dremel brand rotary tool, stop. All of the accessories I have collected over the years, work with this tool.If you want a heck of a kit to start with, buy this and the Milescraft flex shaft, and the Milescraft drill press/ workstation for rotary tools.You will be very happy with the solid feel of this tool. I don't know why the RTX is advertised as a 3-speed device. Also, If you are considering the Dremel because it has more than 3 speeds, dont.

It has 18 different speed settings from 'L' to 'H'. Boy have I wasted alot of money on Dremel. I have used over a dozen rotary tools in my line of work and hobby. That is wrong. So eight years of Dremel brand and I finally buy the Black and Decker RTX. I CAN NOT repeat CAN NOT kill this. Also, any rotary manufactured add-ons work with the RTX. The power of this tool exceeds ANY other manufacturers rotary tool.

Haven't used it yet but seems OK. The speed change control wheel is a little hard to turn.

Beat the heck out of my Dremel XP series.Much more torque and doesn't choke so easily.I've burned out 2 Dremel's in the past year and was tired of trying to do work while worrying about smoking another one. I decided to try this unit out. Great reviews on the item are well founded. I love the unit and it does all the Dremel does but without the feeling it's going to burn out.I don't smell burnt wires any time I use it to cut something.I would recommend to a friend.
